Our hearts feel as though they just might burst with emotion after celebrating Amani Carol’s homecoming. Life is beautiful and over 100 people attested to that this afternoon as we passed Amani Carol from loving arms to loving arms. Eveline is confident and outgoing, and not afraid to stick up for herself. At home, she pitches in by washing the dishes. Eveline is happiest when she is jumping rope or running at recess. Eveline wants to become a teacher. Her favorite animal is a camel, but seeing one in real life is still on her bucket list.  Eveline lives with her single mother, and two siblings. Her mother is a manual laborer.

Like a sparkling treasure found by the luckiest of explorers, this sweet princess was discovered lying near a bridge in Maingi, Kenya in March 2019. Abandoned and unnamed, she was brought to live in our happy baby room at Naomi’s Village within days. We gave her the names Mabel and Zuri, which both mean “beautiful”.

Joan Mukiri

Joan is a great listener, which makes life easy for her teachers. She has a quiet and steady presence in the classroom. At home, when she is not playing with her sisters, she loves pretending to cook, and helping to sweep the house.  Joan lives with both parents, who are manual laborers. There are eight children in the family. Joan’s younger brother Shadrack also attends LEAP Preschool.

Mercy loves to read, sing, and dance.  Her dad is a manual laborer and her mom does odd jobs like washing clothes.   Mercy is the youngest of 5 children.

Mary’s dream is to become a safari driver, or maybe a doctor. Even at this young age, Mary is unafraid of public speaking, and loves reciting her Bible memory verses to an audience.  Mary’s mother passed away and her father abandoned the family, leaving Mary’s grandmother to care for her and her two brothers. Her grandmother depends on the support of neighbors and friends to help care for the children.
