Hope is a little ray of sunshine. She loves to ride the bus to school every morning, chatting with her friends and teachers the whole ride. When she arrives at school, she loves to race her friends down the slides on the playground. Hope lives with her mom and four siblings. Her older brother, Daniel, also attends Cornerstone.

Building his own toy cars, singing at church, and playing soccer are among Josphat’s favorite activities. He is attentive and helpful at home, often sweeping or wiping down the table without being asked. Josphat’s favorite animals are goats and donkeys. Both of Josphat’s parents do manual labor to support their family. Josphat is the fifth of six children.

When we first met Lucy, she was very reserved and shy, but with the love and care she has received, she has begun to flourish at Cornerstone. Both of her parents are manual laborers and farmers. Lucy is the youngest of five kids. Her older sister, Hellen, also attends Cornerstone.

Mary is always on the move. She loves skipping rope, digging in her family’s small garden, and kicking a soccer ball around with her four big brothers. She has an artistic side too, and creates beaded bracelets or necklaces for her friends. Chickens and dogs are her favorite animals. Mary’s older brother Elijah also attends Cornerstone.

Meshack takes a while to warm up to strangers, but once he is comfortable with you, he blossoms. He enjoys taking his family’s animals out to graze and is especially fond of donkeys. Meshack’s dad builds him toy vehicles out of wire, which he spends hours driving around. Fixing things that are broken is one of Meshack’s special talents. Meshack lives with both parents and is the only child.

Raymond has a go-with-the-flow attitude and is very patient with his peers. He enjoys exploring nature and playing hide and seek at home with his friends. Raymond lives with his grandmother, cousins, and brother. His younger cousin, Fred, attends LEAP Preschool.

Susan lives with her mother, and her older brother and sister. Her sister, Grace, also attends Cornerstone. Susan is the most determined student in her class and her persistence proves to be an advantage in the midst of any challenge she may face. Outside of school, she loves to dance with her friends.

Vivian has the brightest smile in the room and loves to make everyone around her smile, too. Her spunky personality helps her achieve this goal as she tells jokes, dances around the room, and sings proudly the new songs she learns at school. Vivian lives with her parents and three siblings.
