Mary Wanjira 

Mary lives with both parents. Her parents are sometimes employed as manual laborers. Her sister, Rahab Kyalo, also attends Cornerstone.

She is a quiet, reserved girl, but she asks lots of good questions. She also loves soccer. Her favorite animal is the giraffe because of its beautiful skin. Math is her best subject, and she dreams of one day becoming a doctor. 








Samuel Karanja Thuo

Samuel lives with both parents. His mother is a teacher and his father sells second-hand clothing. Samuel is the oldest of two children.

Samuel’s a shy, smily boy who loves soccer. His favorite animal is a chicken, because he loves to eat eggs. He enjoys math and has dreams of becoming a pilot someday. 


Angeline Wambui

Angeline lives with her single mother and is the youngest of three children. 

She’s an outgoing, carefree spirit who dances to the beat of her own drum. Her favorite animal is a lion, and she’s happiest when she’s jumping rope at recess. Angeline wants to be a teacher someday. 

Her older brother Samuel Njuguna also attends Cornerstone. 



Michael Njoroge Nioki

Michael lives with his mother, and is the last born of three children in the family.

Michael may be a future soccer star; he is incredibly talented for his age. He’s happiest when he’s building towers, doing puzzles, or playing with marbles. His teacher describes him as an eager learner.



George Mburu

George is a playful, active boy who enjoys soccer. He wants to be a bus driver when he grows up. If George could be any animal, he would want to be a lion.

George helps his mom at home by running errands. His parents separated in 2012. His mom is a farmer and also washes clothes to help make ends meet. George has 4 older siblings.







Esther Njambi 

Esther’s household chores include sweeping the house and doing the dishes. She lives with her mom and is the 3rd of 4 children. Her mom works as a manual laborer.

Esther’s favorite color is red, and her favorite animal is a giraffe. In school, she loves studying English, and aspires to grow up to be a teacher.



Paul Waithaka

Paul is a quiet and reserved child, but he dreams of becoming a salesman someday. His favorite color is red, and his favorite animal is a zebra. 

He’s an only child, and lives with his father and his grandparents.



Hellen Wangui 

Hellen lives with both parents. She is the 4th of 5 children. 

Her hobbies include reading, playing, and she also enjoys helping with household chores like sweeping the house. Her teacher describes Hellen as quiet and reserved but always smiling.





Dennis Kamau 

Dennis loves playing with his friends and is a great dancer. He’s the oldest of three children. He lives with his single mom, who earns a living selling snacks from a roadside stand.



Amos Kibui 

Amos has dreams of becoming a policeman when he grows up. His favorite animals are goats, and his best subject in school is English. Amos loves to play soccer and helps at home by washing the dishes.

He lives with his mom and is the 4th of 6 children. His mom is a manual laborer. Amos’s sister Deborah Wambui attends LEAP Academy.
